MCIM to Release the First AI Assistant Built Exclusively for Data Centers

September 2, 2026

Merin draws on a data center’s own operating history, and industry standards like ASHRAE, giving real-time answers teams at new and existing sites can act on with confidence.

RICHMOND, Va., [Sept. 2, 2026] — Today, MCIM announces Merin, the industry’s first AI assistant built exclusively for mission-critical operations. Merin runs on each customer’s data, so the answers operators need, whether they’re triaging incidents at night or making annual capital planning decisions, are drawn directly from their own records and are reachable in seconds.

Data center operators make thousands of pivotal decisions every day, and the information needed to make safer and faster decisions almost always exists in the organization, but it rarely surfaces when and where it’s needed. As portfolios grow denser and a widening technician shortage pulls experience off the floor, the cost of that gap compounds through slower incident response, an inability for decision-makers to aggregate data across sites,  and capital decisions made on instinct rather than evidence.

Closing the Four Gaps Operators Have Worked Around for Years

For years, operators have absorbed four problems as the cost of doing business:

  • Critical operational information is too slow to find and assemble, whether it’s an executive reading performance across dozens of sites or a technician hunting for history in the middle of an incident.
  • The gap between junior and senior operators keeps widening. Expertise takes years to build and leaves quickly, and there is less time than ever to transfer it.
  • Capital, spares, and vendor decisions get made with personal bias or the weighted heavily on the last performance. The data that should inform them is scattered and slow to assemble.
  • Every work order and alarm adds to your operational history, but that record is scattered across systems with no easy way to query it as a whole. Years of institutional knowledge exist, but it’s not usable.

Merin closes all four. Operators can simply ask:

  • What were the corrective actions for our last chiller failure?
  • Have we seen this failure mode before, and how was it resolved?
  • What repair trends should we plan for in upcoming preventive maintenance?
  • Which vendors or assets are creating the most operational risk?

“We ask operators to carry the organization’s entire operating history in their heads and recall the right piece of it at 2:00 a.m., under pressure,” said Mike Parks, CEO of MCIM. “That has never been realistic, and the technician shortage is making it less realistic. The answers almost always exist in an operator’s own records. MCIM’s Merin puts those answers in front of the technician at the time of need, with the sources to back them up.”

“At our scale, up to 800 incidents a month across sites, the ability to generate and file reports in minutes instead of hours isn’t just a nice-to-have,” said an executive in Merin’s Early Adopter Program. “It’s a meaningful shift in how much time our team gets back.”

Unlocking the Value of Your Operational Data on Day One

Merin is native to the MCIM operational intelligence platform that runs inside each customer’s own production environment, on their own data, with no integration project to stand up first. Its answers are grounded and source-cited, drawing on the customer’s operating history, anonymized cross-industry benchmarks, and recognized standards such as NETA, ASHRAE, and ANSI. It is read-only by design, with no ability to write, update, or delete customer records. Organizations can begin the day they turn it on, using the data they have already collected, rather than spending months restructuring information before seeing value.

By connecting knowledge that already exists across the operation, Merin helps organizations:

  • Guide technicians through incidents step by step, using prior work orders, procedures, and maintenance history.
  • Close the skill gap by surfacing expert troubleshooting logic as in-line coaching at the moment of need.
  • Spot recurring failure patterns and portfolio-wide trends that strengthen reliability and preventive maintenance planning.
  • Make defensible capital, maintenance, vendor, and sourcing decisions from performance data instead of intuition.
